19 October 11:15 - 12:45

Around the world, cities are fighting the Covid-19 pandemic against a backdrop of multiple shocks, stresses, and emerging vulnerabilities, while striving to put equity, economy, and climate action at the centre of their recovery approaches. In the midst of the greatest global economic downturn in nearly a century, progress on sustainable development needs to be regalvanised. Now is the moment for national and local governments to build back stronger, fairer, and greener than before.

During this session Chief Resilience Officers from the Resilient Cities Network will discuss their experience from the last two years, and how they are strengthening the resilience of their cities through transformative multi-hazard and multi-stakeholder actions.

Guiding questions
  1. How cities are putting vulnerability and equity at the centre of their resilient recovery?
  2. How cities are responding to multiple and overlapping risks and promoting co-benefits in recovery planning?
  3. How cities in recovery are meeting the needs of businesses and communities?
