MATCHMAKING (part 2) - the Gap Fund
19. October 12:00 - 13:15
The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy is hosting a practical training session on climate Finance and the City Climate Finance Gap Fund. This session provides an opportunity for city leaders and stakeholders from emerging and developing countries on the OECD DAC list to learn about the Gap Fund, a technical assistance implemented by the European Investment Bank and the World Bank that supports cities in turning their climate ambitions into implementable projects.
This session will equip participants with the understanding and tools to access technical assistance for climate finance. By introducing the Gap Fund application and review process, as well as featuring lessons learned from cities in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, the session will empower cities to develop fundable climate projects that advance both local and global climate goals.
The target audience comprises cities, regions, and practitioners in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, as well as the Middle East and North Africa working on urban resilience, climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and other priority areas.
The session will also showcase how the Gap Fund can assist with resilience financing needs emphasized in the EURESFO forum like nature-based solutions, climate-resilient infrastructure, and climate risk assessment. It will align with the 3 thematic streams of EURESFO 2023 on governance, knowledge/innovation, and solutions for resilience.
This session is part of the Challenging knowledge and innovation: accelerating a resilient and just transformation stream.
